Storefronts – Running the Platforms that bring the Apps

Storefronts are hot. Everyone’s launching them. What does that mean for the storefront provider, the developers, the network providers, and of course for the consumer? This session will focus on the technology issues involved in running the storefront platform. What criteria go into selecting the OS? What tech support do you need to have for the developer community? What does it really take to get an app successfully placed on your storefront? This session of Product Strategists and Planners from leading OEM’s will discuss technical improvements to expect and the technical limitations affecting design. Handset makers will offer insights into the latest in handset trends, their functionality and the fabulous features of the next generation of Smartphones.
Devices- The Competitive OS Landscape

This session revisits the competitive landscape among OS providers. Each has strengths and a dedicated user base. Can they all survive? Will the application development market move along faster if there is more cohesion than competition in this arena? What strides are being made at the API layer to solve the conundrum of multiple OS? This session will provide a background review of the announcements in the last six months. More importantly, panelists will share their thoughts on the announcements and company strategies that will set the stage (define the platform) for developers, interoperability, and ultimately for consumer apps, in the next few years.
4G – 2B or not 2B?

Next Gen network decisions are the essential drivers of all decisions about wireless and this session highlights the Technology officers from key network providers. What are the advantages in speed and reliability of each technology?
Convergence and Bandwidth – Traffic Jam or Jamming Traffic?

Consumers want to jam to their music, not be jammed on their network. High bandwidth consumer apps are putting pressure on network capacities. The US has over 40 million smart phone installed base now and, as that number continues to speed upward, the need for bandwidth will only grow. This session combines executives from network providers and major bandwidth users discussing the current tension in the ecosystem and what they are doing to mitigate subpar customer experiences. We expect to hear of potential resolutions that can resolve concerns about network bandwidth.

With the recent flurry of merger and acquisition activity around Mobile Ad Networks, is 2010 indeed the year of Mobile Advertising? With the rapid increase in Smartphone penetration, the ability to advertise across mobile handsets has reached new heights. Brands, agencies, and marketers have proclaimed that mobile presents too compelling a value proposition to ignore. This panel hinges on the question of whether Mobile Ad Networks are the recipe for success in the kingdom of mobile advertising. What are the criteria that distinguish a good network? This panel will examine those criteria including types of reach, relevancy, audience channels, post-click tracking, as well as page views to measure what is most important : user engagement.

This session will explore the latest in-store uses of wireless that go beyond simple mobile couponing campaigns and expose the emerging opportunities for mobile-enabled extended packaging, consumer self-scanning, social networking and shopping-focused apps. Special emphasis will be given to the innovative applications of mobile technologies and mobile marketing campaigns that enhance consumer retail experiences both “in-store” and “on-the-go.”
The World Is Wide Open
